Mayor Reynolds noted that the meeting is Council Member Hameister's final meeting  
and thanked her for her service. Trost thanked staff particularly the Planning  
Department. Woodard noted that there was a ground-breaking yesterday for a new  
62-unit complex at 4th and Jackson. Kiel thanked the Fire Department for their  
hydro-helpers program that educates gets youth involved in being involved in the  
community. Sleznikow noted the upcoming "Ride with the Mayor" bicycling event on  
May 30th. Mayor Reynolds noted that the week is Municipal Clerks Week and also  
Public Service Recognition Week. He added that the week of the 19th is Public  
Works Week and May 16th is the annual Touch-a-Truck event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  
at the Municipal Service Center. He noted that Sunday May 5th was the Missing and  
Murdered Indigenous Women's commemorative event in Burns Park and thank  
everyone who involved in that event as well as those that participated in Neighbors Day  
- overall there were 400 volunteers that assisted at 180 homes. He noted the ongoing  
work on BPAC plan and that a public engagement meeting is coming up on May 20th  
at the Southside Neighborhood Center. Mindel noted that La Crosse was selected of  
as one of twelve cities in the U.S. for the 2024 Lead Cities National Cohort program to  
work with the other eleven cities to advance climate goals and build peer to peer  
opportunities; this group represents over 4 million people in the U.S.
