Logan Northside Neighborhood Association presented three items including
the ReNew the Block Habitat project on Avon Street, RRFB on Ranger Drive
and Wood Street, and an RRFB on Palace Street by Badger Hickey Park.
Lower Northside Neighborhood Association presented three items including an
update to the Copeland Park shelters, a trail from Goose Green Park to Monitor
Street, and a bike trail on the old railroad right-of-way from St. James to Lang
Drive.
Washburn Neighborhood Association presented ideas including traffic calming
on Ferry Street from 8th-15th Street, improving hockey boards at Green Island,
park improvements at Houska Park, streetscaping around 7th and Cass, and
streetscaping on 3rd and 4th.
Powell Poage Hamilton Neighborhood Association presented four ideas
including a second basketball court at Powell Park, street lighting on 8th
Street, street lighting on Jackson Street, and a community garden at Powell
Park.
Bluffside Neighborhood Association presented ideas regarding safety including
sidewalks on 29th Street and some other sidewalk projects.
Weigent Hogan Neighborhood Association presented three ideas in Weigent
Park including fixing the fencing, adding a sidewalk from 16th street to the
shelter, and bollards along the new sidewalk.

CM Trost explained to the Commission the previous policy recommendations
that have come from the NRC including a parking benefit district, rental
registration, and short-term rental licensing ordinance.
CM Trost stated her idea was to do a vacant property survey. Clark stated that a
good use for some of these properties could be a pocket park. McDonnell
stated that Washburn doesn't have any parks other than Houska Park.
McDonnell stated a pocket park would be a great solution to the lack of parks
in their neighborhood.
Hurtubise mentioned looking at walkability and safe routes to schools given
the recent/upcoming school closures.
Bagneiwski talked about working on climate goals in conjunction with the CAP
steering committee that relate to neighborhood issues and neighborhood
walkability. He also stated the importance of better communication and getting
all the neighborhood associations to work together.
CM Trost talked about the ability for the NRC to be involved in the Zoning Code
update. Kratt stated he likes the education pieces that have been part of the
meetings recently and thinks educating the public on these the Zoning Code
update will be just as important.
The Commission will continue discussions on an Action Plan at the January
meeting.
