Discussion on priority projects and implementation of the 2024 Bicycle and
Pedestrian Master Plan.
2.
CM Sleznikow asked Committee Members to bring forward ideas for future
capital budget processes or grant opportunities. Sward stated that if bike/ped
projects get brought forward that means a different project from Public Works
will be taken away or pushed off. Young asked how the Committee can work
with Engineering to coordinate street reconstruction with priority projects.
Young stated it would be helpful for the Green Complete Streets review to go
further out than one year.
CM Sleznikow suggested forming a subcommittee to discuss and bring back
priority projects to the full committee. CM Sleznikow, James Longhurst, Cathy
Van Maren, and Erin Duffer volunteered to be a part of the subcommittee.

without Driving (WWD) will be September 30-October 6 and is a national effort

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was invited to co-sponsor the
event. The Committee discussed possible opportunities for events.
Young motioned for the Committee to co-sponsor the Week without Driving.
Fennie Seconded. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
Updates (Bike Rodeo, Bike Friendly Community, Committee Member
updates, etc.).
4.
Staff provided information regarding the city-wide Bike Rodeo on September
19th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The event will be held at Copeland Park in the
Oktoberfest Pavilion. Staff is still looking for volunteers and stated the event
will include helmet fittings, bike registration, and bike skills for elementary
aged kids.
Staff also stated that they applied to renew the city's Bike Friendly Community
status at the end of June. As part of that process the League of American
Cyclists is asking community members to fill out the survey about what it is like
to bike in La Crosse. This survey will remain open until October 15th.
