Generally because the pumping solutions for flooding basements are not sustainable or feasible in many locations, the aim is to get people to fill their basements. Jason Gilman recommends the FAC consider the following:
1. Holding an open house to promote the grant program later this year (six to eight weeks out)
2. Have Dave Reinhart comment on what regulatory limitations there may be in brining water heaters and furnaces up from the basement (like building additions limits due to setbacks)
3. Have Kevin Conroy describe the challenges and successes of a completed basement filling, and the costs associated with the project
4. Create a sliding scale for basement fill grants based on the value of the home.
