The Building and Housing Appeals Board shall consist of five (5) electors of the City of La Crosse and two (2) alternates who shall be designated first alternate and second alternate and may act when one (1) or more members of the Board is absent or refuses to act because of a conflicting interest. Two of the members shall be registered architects or professional engineers or experienced employees of registered architects or professional engineers, and the remainder shall be experienced members of the construction industry. All members of the Board, including the alternates, shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the Common Council. The members shall serve a term of three (3) years with no more than two (2) members terms expiring the same year. The term of the alternates shall be for staggered terms of three (3) years. The Building and Inspections Department shall provide clerical assistance to the Board. Ordinance 4685 combined the Board of Building Appeals and the Housing Appeals board; passed 7/12/12.
