Title
Request to pursue Thriving Earth Exchange project on community support networks in times of extreme weather.
...Body
The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) has partnered with Thriving Earth Exchange (TEX) to help ICLEI communities with community science projects. Thriving Earth Exchange helps communities find resources, project managers, and experts to address their pressing concerns. After a discussing the top climate actions with ICLEI's community science fellow, staff felt that action #9 would be best suited for the project.
The information in the implementation plan is a great starting point. The community science project would focus on the interviewing community leaders about what support they need and researching support (such as communication tools) for them to use. To align with TEX, the project could be framed in the context of the community rather than focusing on the Climate Action Plan. Including the complementary actions may not be relevant.
For the proposal, the City should provide the following:
1. A description of the city and it's the environmental and community assets
2. Relevant climate hazards and why they are a priority for the City to address
3. Why certain populations are currently more vulnerable to climate hazards
4. Why addressing this issue is a recommendation in the CAP
The CAPSC will need to flesh out the details of the items in the work sequence, including information on why you're focusing on that target audience specifically. There doesn't need to be a lot of information on specific goals or logistics; that's something TEX will want to be developed collaboratively once you've been matched with their volunteers.
